Pueblo Counties deputies Thursday arrested a man on murder, vehicular homicide and child abuse charges in connection to an August crash in which three people died.

Kohen Garrett Kyle, 32, is charged with three counts each of first-degree murder, reckless vehicular homicide and DUI vehicular homicide and one count of child abuse resulting in death after an Aug. 23 crash that killed Marie Quintana, 56, of Aurora, Jesus Guerrero-Lopez, 48, of Denver, and Quintana’s 12-year-old grandson, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies on Aug. 26 responded to a report of a crash in the 800 block of North Purcell Boulevard and found that Kyle, driving a 2015 BMW 550, was allegedly traveling south on Purcell when it crossed the center line and hit a northbound 2017 Honda CRV.

Quintana, her grandson and Guerrero-Lopez all died at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office. The boy was ejected from the backseat of the Honda.

Investigators learned Kyle was allegedly driving over 100 mph when he crossed the center line and hit the Honda head-on.

Several witnesses reported seeing the driver of the BMW driving recklessly and passing vehicles on the road prior to the accident, according to the sheriff’s office.

Kyle was booked into the Pueblo County jail.
