<\/p>\nCoronation Street star Andrew Whyment has been spotted far from the ITV soap in a sporty snap shared online.<\/p>\n
Whyment, 42, first joined the cobbles back in October of 2000 and has since become a fan favourite. Most recently, his character Kirk Sutherland has been living it up with on-screen partner Beth Tinker after he moved in with resident Kabin boss Norris back in 2018.<\/p>\n
Kirk and Beth patched up their rocky relationship and Kirk moved back in with Beth. Since then, the pair have been loved up ever since on-screen.<\/p>\n

But fans have spotted the former Royle Family actor far from Weatherfield as he was working at a football pitch. The snap, shared on Twitter, saw Whyment take on the role of a linesman during a match on Sunday afternoon (October 8).<\/p>\n

Sporting a Manchester United jersey, avid footy fan Andrew was paying close attention to the game as he held the flag in his right hand. Captioning the pic, the upload rejoiced: "Today's linesman!" <\/p>\n
Corrie fans were quick to take to social media to give their thoughts on 'Kirky' leaving Weatherfield behind. One user said: "Kirk left Weatherfield to become a linesman, I see!"<\/p>\n

A second fan wrote: "Respect to him. Toughest job in the world…especially with an arched back." Whilst a third joked: "Did the team go to the Rovers after?".<\/p>\n
Andrew is no stranger to sports, having taken part in another ITV show – Dancing on Ice – back in 2012. Paired with professional skater Vicky Ogden, Whyment made it far into the competition, being the tenth celebrity to be eliminated.<\/p>\n

Whyment has also starred in a number of other shows outside of Coronation Street, including two stints on I'm A Celebrity in 2019 and 2023 respectively. He also auditioned for The X Factor all the way back in 2010, where he performed "Sex on Fire" by the Kings of Leon. He failed to make it through to the next round. <\/p>\n
