Barcelona has successfully held its grip on the coveted World\u2019s Best Bar trophy.<\/p>\n
For the second year in a row, a bar in the Spanish city ranks number one in The World\u2019s 50 Best Bars awards, with Sips<\/span> in Barcelona\u2019s Eixample neighbourhood declared 2023\u2019s winner.<\/p>\n London, however, dominates overall with five bars on the list, more than any other city, including two in the top 10 – Connaught Bar<\/span>, which ranks fifth, and\u00a0Tayer + Elementary<\/span> in eighth place. There\u2019s also Satan\u2019s Whiskers<\/span> (28th), A Bar with Shapes for a Name<\/span> (35th) and Scarfes Bar<\/span> (41st). They\u2019re not the only UK bars to make the ranking – Edinburgh\u2019s Panda & Sons<\/span> appears on the list in 39th place.<\/p>\n New York, meanwhile, has three bars in the ranking, with Double Chicken Please <\/span>crowned the No.2 bar in the world and the Best Bar in America. Fellow Manhattan bars Overstory<\/span> (17th) and Katana Kitten<\/span> (27th) also make the top 50. Two more U.S bars appear in the ranking – Miami\u2019s Caf\u00e9 La Trova<\/span> ranks 24th and Jewel of the South<\/span> in New Orleans takes 49th place.<\/p>\n Sydney\u2019s Maybe Sammy<\/span> (15th) has been crowned The Best Bar in Australasia for a fifth time in a row, whilst Melbourne\u2019s Caretaker\u2019s Cottage<\/span> joins the list for the first time in 23rd place.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The winners of The World\u2019s 50 Best Bars awards have been revealed, with Sips in Barcelona (above) declared the Best Bar in the World for 2023\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n London has five bars on the list, which is more than any other city. The winners were revealed at an awards ceremony in Singapore this week\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The only UK bar outside London to make the top 50 ranking, Edinburgh\u2019s Panda & Sons (pictured) takes 39th place on the list<\/p>\n The Perrier-sponsored awards ceremony took place on Tuesday night in Singapore, with the list compiled by votes from The World\u2019s 50 Best Bars Academy, which comprises more than 680 drinks experts, including renowned bartenders and consultants, drinks writers and cocktail specialists.<\/p>\n Winner Sips \u2013 which opened its doors in Barcelona in 2021 – combines \u2018elegant design with cutting-edge technique to create an unfussy and playful \u201cdrinkery house\u201d\u2019.<\/p>\n Its design is said to remove \u2018any barrier between guest and bartender, with the aim of centring the human aspect of service to create a multi-sensory, immersive drinking experience\u2019.<\/p>\n William Drew, Content Director of The World\u2019s 50 Best Bars, says: ‘As the brainchild of cocktail-world icons Marc \u00c1lvarez and Simone Caporale, Sips was destined for greatness even before it rocketed into the list at No.37 just a few short months after opening in 2021. The bar seamlessly translates contemporary innovation and technical precision into a playful cocktail programme, accompanied by the warmest hospitality, making it a worthy winner of The World\u2019s Best Bar 2023 title.’<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The ranking is compiled by votes from The World\u2019s 50 Best Bars Academy, which comprises more than 680 drinks experts, including renowned bartenders and consultants, drinks writers and cocktail specialists<\/p>\n <\/p>\n New York bar Double Chicken Please has been crowned the No.2 bar in the world and the Best Bar in America<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Sydney \u2019s Maybe Sammy, which ranks 15th, has been crowned The Best Bar in Australasia for a fifth time in a row<\/p>\n Sips is joined on the list by two more Spanish bars \u2013 Barcelona bar Paradiso<\/span>, which was last year\u2019s number one but now ranks fourth, and Madrid\u2019s Salmon Guru<\/span>\u00a0(16th).\u00a0<\/p>\n Five Italian watering holes make the top 50 ranking \u2013 Drink Kong<\/span> (21st) and Freni e Frizioni<\/span> (33rd) in Rome; 1930<\/span> (42nd) in Milan; L\u2019Antiquario<\/span> (44th) in Naples and Locale Firenze<\/span> (46th) in Florence.<\/p>\n Athens has three bars on the list \u2013 Line <\/span>(12th), Baba Au Rum<\/span> (25th) and The Clumsies<\/span> (47th).<\/p>\n Elsewhere in Europe, Parisian bars\u00a0Little Red Door<\/span> (sixth) and The Cambridge Public House<\/span> (38th) and Berlin bar\u00a0Wax On<\/span>\u00a0(29th) make the cut. Of the Nordic countries, Oslo\u2019s Himkok <\/span>ranks 10th while R\u00f6da Huset<\/span>\u00a0in Stockholm takes 31st place.<\/p>\n The Best Bar in South America is Cartagena\u2019s Alqu\u00edmico<\/span>\u00a0– a title it also held last year.
