Big Brother 2016 contestant Lateysha Grace has shared some heartbreaking news on Instagram.

The 30-year-old, who began her TV career in MTV series The Valleys, was rushed to hospital for life-saving surgery just over a week ago, and now we finally know what was happening to her.

Next to a gallery of pictures, she wrote to her 1 million fans on Monday: "This week has been one of the scariest most heartbreaking of my life. I found out I was pregnant 3 months ago!

"I was shocked and surprised but so happy to add to my family, unfortunately I thought I had lost the baby a couple weeks after but in fact I hadn't. I woke up one morning with the most awful pain in my stomach and collapsed on my bathroom floor, I got rushed to hospital to find out I hadn't lost my baby it was in fact growing in the wrong place and was an ectopic pregnancy.

"The scans showed that I had severe internal bleeding!" she continued to reveal.

"To be told that they have blood transfusion on standby was so scary, I was rushed down to theatre straight away to be operated on as my tube was about to rupture at an minute. I'm so thankful to the hospital staff for saving my life, drs and nurses are true angels in disguise.

"Not only have I had to mourn my unborn baby twice but I've also lost my tube in the process. If anyone has been through this and has any advice on how they dealt with such an awful situation would be much appreciated. Also if anyone has any of the symptoms included in this post please seek medical advice asap #ectopicpregnancy #eptopicawareness #eptopicpregnancysurvivor."

An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilised egg implants itself outside of the womb, more often than not in one of the fallopian tubes, which operate as the connection between the ovaries and the womb.

If an egg gets stuck there, it won't develop into a baby and as a result your health may be at serious risk if the pregnancy further develops. Tragically, it's impossible to save the pregnancy and must be removed via medicine or surgery.

Having read about Lateysha's harrowing experience, those particular followers who could relate to it were quick to reply with messages of support.

"I’ve been in your shoes. I lost my tube. I nearly died. I went on to have 2 beautiful children with absolutely no trouble at all. The human body is so so so clever. Recover, heal and mourn, but don’t fear for the future – it’s still there for you," one read.

Another posted: "I had one 20 years ago and also lost a tube and I went on to have 3 more babies. Xx", while a third shared: "I lost a tube due to ectopic pregnancy and had pregnancies after stay strong."

Someone else continued: "I had emergency surgery for a ruptured ectopic in June, I am now 12 weeks pregnant on my second pregnancy, it does get better stay strong xxx."
