A housing estate where 'feral yobs' reportedly ripped up a live pigeon before launching it into a chippy has been dubbed the UK's 'worst' by a YouTuber who found a flattened rat in a kids' park.

Blakenall Heath in Walsall has developed a name for itself and has regularly been hit with the label of the country's worst estate. Locals have spoken of the fear throughout the area as the thugs – some as young as 10 – run riot and knife amnesty boxes are needed to rid the area of dangerous blades.

And reports that a live pigeon was torn to pieces in front of staff and customers outside a local shop shows the extent of the craziness that's gripped the West Midlands town, known locally as Blakenall.

Off the back of its dark reputation, YouTube channel UK Explored visited the estate and had plenty to say about the locals, the fly-tipping and the general decay in the area.

"Honestly I was scared," the presenter said. "The moment I walked into Dawson Street and filmed the street sign a woman told me to 'F off' and then she started making a call on her phone."

"I heard her say 'they're filming right now, come and see' and I didn't want to find out who she was calling so I made a quick exit," he added as images of battered houses with boarded up windows are shown.

He surmised on Dawson Street that it is "probably as bad as the media is making out".

The presenter then showed "a flat rat in the kids park" and showed the scorched earth where "several fire pits had been burning at night".

He added that there around 400 crimes reported in Blakenall alone. Anti social behaviour, criminal damage and arson and violence and sexual offences dominate those stats, according to Street Check.
