{"id":181575,"date":"2023-11-15T21:24:26","date_gmt":"2023-11-15T21:24:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotworldreport.com\/?p=181575"},"modified":"2023-11-15T21:24:26","modified_gmt":"2023-11-15T21:24:26","slug":"senior-nhs-doctor-leaves-job-days-after-posting-anti-semitic-comments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotworldreport.com\/world-news\/senior-nhs-doctor-leaves-job-days-after-posting-anti-semitic-comments\/","title":{"rendered":"Senior NHS doctor leaves job days after posting anti-semitic comments"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Senior NHS doctor leaves his job days after posting anti-semitic comments online in the wake of the Israel-Gaza crisis<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>Dr Manoj Sen\u00a0posted a statement that translated to &#8216;the Jews are our misfortune&#8217;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A senior NHS doctor has left his job days after posting anti-semitic comments online in the wake of the Israel-Gaza crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Manoj Sen, a surgeon at Northwick Park Hospital in London and a lecturer at Imperial College, made offensive comments about Jews on his Facebook profile.<\/p>\n<p>Screenshots widely circulated online show that three days after the Hamas massacre of Israeli civilians, Dr. Sen posted a statement in German that translated to &#8216;the Jews are our misfortune.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>In a second comment on Facebook, Dr Sen apparently referred to another account user as &#8216;Jew boy.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>One account that critically shared the comments asked: &#8216;How can Jewish patients feel safe in his care?&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/08\/17\/77567103-12726265-image-a-1_1699466086384.jpg\" height=\"596\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Dr Manoj Sen (pictured), a surgeon at Northwick Park Hospital in London and a lecturer at Imperial College, made offensive comments about Jews on his Facebook profile<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/08\/17\/77567097-12726265-image-a-2_1699466093240.jpg\" height=\"662\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Screenshots widely circulated online show that three days after the Hamas massacre of Israeli civilians, Dr. Sen posted a statement in German that translated to &#8216;the Jews are our misfortune&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>In another comment he referred to Jews as &#8216;circumcised vermin&#8217; &#8211; and likened the Israeli Defence Force to the Nazis.<\/p>\n<h3>READ MORE:\u00a0How Hamas-excusing medics are lurking within our NHS &#8211; including a doctor who mocked Israeli festival-goers who fled Palestinian gunmen\u00a0<\/h3>\n<p>Both comments were picked up and widely circulated &#8211; and have now apparently cost him his job as he has apologised and hastily retired.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for Northwick Park told MailOnline today: &#8216;Mr Sen is no longer an employee of London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We do not tolerate hate speech or discrimination of any kind and take immediate action when such behaviour is brought to our attention.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We continue to work closely with our teams to make sure that all our people feel comfortable in reporting unacceptable language or behaviour.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Dr Sen later clarified in another Facebook post that he had hastily retired after the row.<\/p>\n<p>He wrote: &#8216;I sincerely apologise to everyone for my unforgivable comments.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I have since retired as a clinical doctor and these comments by mitigation were directed personally. Heaven knows that I am never an anti Semite. I once treated this person&#8217;s father. Hopefully my Jewish friends and acquaintances know I am no anti Semite. Still, my heartfelt and sincere apologies.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/08\/17\/77567111-12726265-image-m-4_1699466135811.jpg\" height=\"534\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Both comments were picked up and widely circulated &#8211; and have now apparently cost him his job as he has apologised and hastily retired<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/08\/17\/77567099-12726265-image-a-5_1699466147267.jpg\" height=\"713\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>One account that critically shared the comments asked: &#8216;How can Jewish patients feel safe in his care?&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>He then explained why he had made the remark, saying: &#8216;That remark is a month old and [the other Facebook user he was arguing with] alluded to my capabilities for no reason, even though I had operated on his father &#8211; thus imitating this discourse<\/p>\n<p>Dr Sen is also reportedly a guest lecturer at Imperial College London. They have been contacted for comment as has Dr Sen.<\/p>\n<p>He is understood to be a consultant general and colorectal surgeon within the NHS and for private hire.<\/p>\n<p>His areas of expertise are said to include hernia surgery, colonoscopy, pilonidal sinus surgery, upper GI (gastrointestinal) endoscopy, colorectal surgery and proctology.<\/p>\n<p>Biographies tell how &#8216;Mr Sen&#8217;s patients consider him to be friendly and reassuring, and he ensures that he is fully engaged with the patient, and takes time to explain the procedures in a way that is easy for the patient to understand.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>He qualified to practice medicine in India before moving the UK in 1985.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Sen told MailOline this afternoon: &#8216;I would like to unreservedly apologise for these remarks for which there are no excuses.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>He went on: &#8216;I am no anti Semite or racist, being a Hindu married to a German Catholic and counting close friends and acquaintances from all religions and including Jews.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;These remarks were provoked in the heat of the moment by a person who insulted me on Facebook, and whose father was once my patient.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Sen continued: &#8216;[But whatever] the provocation, my comments were appalling and unjustified. I have apologised on Facebook today for them.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>He explained he had tried to delete his comments but had been unable to.<\/p>\n<p>And added: &#8216;I now have had time to reflect on this and regret I have brought myself, my NHS Trust (which I left last week on retirement) and the profession into disrepute.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I promise not to ever do it again.
