Millions of Brits are expected to get snow by the end of this month – and some parts of the country could see up to 8cm of the white stuff.

Forecasting models have been hinting for some time that a deep freeze and snowy conditions are heading our way this November.

Exacta Weather forecaster James Madden declared yesterday (Wednesday, November 15) that "snow is coming". He added that it won't just be over higher ground in the north either, writing: "Even parts as far south as the Midlands, Central/Southern England will be brought into the mix."

Advanced weather maps from WX Charts now show exactly how much snow different parts of the UK can expect to settle on the ground. They show a snow front moving down the UK from Scotland on November 26 and 27, leaving almost all of Scotland as well as parts of Northern Ireland, the north of England and Wales with snow.

On Tuesday, November 28, WX Charts' data shows around 3cm of snow on the ground in the Scottish Highlands, 5cm in parts of the north of England, and around 1cm in Wales. There could also be a small amount in and around London.

The snow should continue to accumulate meaning that by Thursday, November 30, parts of northern Scotland might see up to 8cm on the ground. Elsewhere some should have melted away, with 4cm left in parts of the north of England and less than 1cm in Wales.

Madden said regarding the end-of-November snow blast: "The first major wintry and snowy blast of the season is now starting to build.

"There is now the ever-increasing and quite high risk that this wintry blast will strike within the exact period we have been covering for over the past several weeks, and since our earliest indications on this from early September onwards. The worst hit areas also look likely to be across the northern half of the country for this period and this does also include snow to lower levels in these parts too.

"However, as we get nearer the time, it is now also becoming increasingly likely that we will see some of this snow reaching some much lower levels of the country, and even parts as far south as the Midlands, Central/Southern England will be brought into the mix for snow within this period too."
