Charlotte Church has revealed her new tattoos – after getting inked for the first time.
The 37 year old singer revealed her tattoos in Instagram pictures – two large snakes which wrap around her wrists and forearms.
Welsh star Charlotte also shared the significant meaning behind the ink, while saying that she “loved” her new body art and thanking her tattooist.
Alongside pictures, the star wrote: "Each element in these snakes embodies a layer of meaning. Placed prominently on my hands and forearm, they serve as a constant reminder to bring my awareness back to the present moment.
"They’re a testament to strengthening my body and making mindful choices as I get older.
"They’re a nod to Lilith, the first woman and her symbol of two snakes. She was equal to Adam yet refused to lay under him, and then fled from Eden gaining her independence.
"I find her story fascinating, and it fuels my fight and keeps me aware of patriarchal confines wherever I see them."
She added: "Thank you so much for your beautiful art @aimeecornwelltattoo! I’m in love with them."
Sophie Ellis-Bextor was one of the famous faces who commented, writing: “Love the tattoos and the story behind them xx.”
Charlotte’s fans also shared their appreciation, with one person writing: “One wrote: ‘Ooh wow, love them, really beautiful."
Another said: "Love love love! the meaning is just spot on – love the story of Lilith."
A third wondered about the pain of such tattoos, commenting: "They are beautiful, but I know how much that bit on your inner wrist hurts to have tattooed!! X."
Days before revealing what her first ever tattoo was, Charlotte, who rose to fame as a child classical singer, had called it a 'life changing experience’.
She shared an action shot where she was sitting in a chair whilst getting the tattoo on her arm with a huge smile for the camera.
She captioned the snap: “Having my first ever tattoos a couple of weeks ago was an absolutely life changing experience! Shout out to @aimeecornwelltattoo for her wonderful work”.
The star showed off her natural beauty by going makeup free and looking stylish in an orange patterned dress as she sat across from the tattoo artist.
It comes after Charlotte opened her dream nature and wellness retreat earlier this year, which she documented through her own show.
The retreat “offers an escape from the complexity of modern life, connecting people back to the land, to themselves, and to their journeys.”
Guests can either enjoy short residential retreats complete with daily wellness exercises or opt for longer stays with specialist practitioners, all of which “deliver a unique, exciting and nourishing menu of activities in keeping with the seasons.”
Other activities available are yoga, sound healing ceremonies, mythic storytelling, foraging, cold water immersion, den building, sensory portal building, dance and dream work, or something more modern like taking a trip to the silent disco or heading to the outdoor cinema.
Explaining her reasoning behind the project, Charlotte stated on her website that she “always felt there was more” that she could be doing that would “better the lives of people who find themselves adrift in the chaos of the 21st Century”.
“By honouring and connecting with nature we can regain our wildness, and awaken spiritually,” she added.
