Grant, a Wiradjuri man and three-time Walkley Award winner, said the institute was designed to “improve the quality of public discourse, to acknowledge that we don’t do conflict well, and to make media part of the solution rather than the problem”.

Responding to reports he had just quit the ABC, Grant said he had resigned weeks ago.
