Israeli who saw her grandmother being murdered online breaks down as she describes horrific, bloody scene she witnessed after Hamas killer posted footage on her Facebook page
- Mor Bayder said she found out about her grandmother’s death on Sunday
- The video she saw – posted to her grandmother’s own Facebook page – showed her beloved elderly relative in a pool of blood on the floor of her home in Nir Oz
A young Israeli woman who saw her grandmother being murdered by a Hamas terrorist online broke down today as she described the bloody scene she witnessed after the killer posted the footage to the elderly victim’s own Facebook page.
Mor Bayder said she only found out about the tragedy when going on the social media platform to see the horrific post at 7am on Sunday – calling the video the ‘nightmare of my life’.
She said it was her aunt that initially alerted her and her mother to the horrific live stream that showed her grandmother’s final moments – in a pool of blood on the floor of her home in Israel.
The murder is just one of hundreds of deaths which have occurred since Saturday, when Hamas gunman stormed into Israel and indiscriminately attacked civilians.
Israeli officials have said more than 1,000 of their civilians have been killed, and a further 150 have been taken across the border into Gaza as hostages.

Speaking to Israeli TV channel Canal 13, a tearful Bayder said the killer had called her aunt to force her to view the images of her grandmother ‘lying in a pool of blood’ in the kibbutz of Nir Oz, just two kilometres from Hamas-controlled Gaza.

Several Israelis from the area have been reported missing.
‘When we got out, my aunt called my mom frantically [and told her] ‘open Facebook, open Facebook,’ Ms Bayder said, fighting back tears to describe the trauma of seeing the video for the first time.
‘Mom couldn’t open it at all. She was trembling. I opened it from my phone and I saw, like, the worst [thing] you could possibly imagine.
‘My grandma on the floor in her house being murdered in a video. The entire floor covered in blood. My grandma lying there,’ Ms Bayder said, describing the horrific video that appeared on her grandmother’s own Facebook page.
‘The terrorist just took her private phone, filmed her and uploaded it to her private Facebook wall. That’s how we found out. That’s how we learned about it.’
‘We screamed at the top of our lungs. Everyone here just lost it. It is the most horrible thing you could ever imagine and run through your head.
‘It just just leave us even now, it won’t leave us for the rest of our lives,’ she said.
In her own Facebook post on Monday, Ms Bayder paid a moving tribute to her grandmother and detailed the terrifying manner in which she was killed.
‘The pillar of my life, in my family’s life. My grandmother, a resident of Kibbutz Nir Oz all her life, was [killed] yesterday in a brutal murder by a terrorist in her home,’ she wrote.
‘Seven in the morning, I saw the nightmare of my life. A terrorist came home to her, killed her, took her phone, filmed the horror and published it on her Facebook wall.

Ms Bayder said her and her grandmother were very close, adding that her heart is ‘shattered’
‘This is how we found out. The purest thing in the world, the light of my life, my whole world, my grandmother, can’t make it real.’
At least 1,600 lives have already been claimed on both sides, and perhaps hundreds more, with Israel today announcing the death toll on its side had passed 1,000.
Meanwhile, Hamas and other militant groups in Gaza are holding more than 150 soldiers and civilians hostage, according to Israel – after the terrorists stormed into Israeli settlements and kidnapped many of those they did not kill.

Ms Bayder added in her own Facebook post: ‘This morning I didn’t get ‘My dear teacher, did you get up?’ like every morning when you were persistent not a minute after seven. My heart is shattered to pieces.
‘Those who know me know what she is to me, what a connection we had, what a person she is, pure and good.
‘My grandmother loved life but how do we go on without you? Who am I without you? I’m not willing to talk about you in the past, it’s a nightmare of my life.
‘I love you and you know it, in every room of my heart, in every particle of my body, in every fiber of my organ.
‘My grandmother, my flower, the light of my life, my whole world.’
Violence is the recurring theme in many other photos and videos spread online by Hamas or its supporters since Saturday.
‘This is on purpose: The goal is to trigger a sense of helplessness, paralysis, and humiliation,’ Michael Horowitz, a security analyst at consultancy Le Beck International, told AFP news agency.
Even the most unbearable images have gone viral, including footage of a woman’s partially naked body in the bed of a pick-up truck cheered by armed men.
Her murder is just one of hundreds of deaths which have occurred this week after Hamas terrorists launched a surprise assault
Her mother has identified her as Shani Louk, a German-Israeli in her twenties who was at a desert rave which turned into a bloodbath early Saturday.

As many as 270 bodies have been recovered from the Nova festival.
Another widely-shared video shows a family huddled together on the ground.
A boy aged just six or seven asks his mother if his slain sister will come back, and she is forced to answer ‘no’ in a sob – before throwing herself across her son to protect him as the legs of the likely kidnapper approach in front of the lens.
Although such propaganda is not a new addition to Hamas’s arsenal, ‘Today we see much more sophisticated methods of manipulation and propaganda from Hamas,’ said Ruslan Trad, resident fellow for security research at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab.
By the fourth day of the vast Hamas surprise attack, compared by Israel to the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, hundreds of Israelis and Palestinians had been killed.
Tel Aviv has vowed a retaliation against Hamas that will ‘reverberate … for generations’, with its mobilisation of 360,000 reservists raising questions about whether it will order a ground invasion.
