Janette Manrara and Aljaz speak out on baby news after ‘tough’ time apart

Strictly Come Dancing’s It Takes Two host Janette Manrara said she and husband Aljaž Škorjanec are keen to have another baby in the future when the time is right. The dancers welcomed their first born, a daughter named Lyra Rose, back in July and are now hoping to give her a sibling, particularly as they live far away from family.

Janette, 40, said: “We’d like to [have more babies], Aljaz is very close to his sister and I’m very close to my brother and sister so we know how beautiful it is to have a sibling. And, because it’s just Aljaz and I here in the UK, we’d love for her to have more family.

“If we’re blessed enough to have more, we’d love for her to have a little brother or a sister. We will see.” For now, the couple are juggling parenting Lyra with their busy schedules, which includes their current nationwide Dancing in a Winter Wonderland tour.

While both have had successful dance careers so far, the pair, who married in 2015, said nothing beats being parents. Janette gushed: “I knew I always wanted to be a mother, but I didn’t know how or when the right time was. When Lyra came into the picture, I just realised oh my gosh this is the best thing in the world.

“It’s hard, it’s very hard but as soon as she smiles at me or giggles, that’s it, all the world’s problems ends. It’s the best feeling in the world. Aljaz says its the best job he’s ever had, being a father.”

“We’re very fortunate and we know how lucky we are to have Lyra, our little miracle. We don’t take a single second with her for granted.” The dancer refers to Lyra as their miracle baby after two years of fertility struggles.

Fearing it may never happen, the pair arranged to have IVF but realised she had fallen pregnant naturally shortly after. The couple, who married in 2017, announced their happy news in an Instagram post back in February. In July, they welcomed Lyra at London’s Portland Hospital weighing 7lb 7oz.
