Eighty firefighters have rushed to a 24-storey block of flats in London where ‘most of the 14th floor flat is alight’.
Twelve fire engines and the Brigade’s 64 metre turntable ladder have been called to help fight the fire on Hindmarsh Close in Shadwell.
999 Control Officers have received more than 65 calls about the blaze after it was first reported at 12.16pm today.
Crews from Shadwell, Whitechapel, Shoreditch, Dockhead, Millwall and other surrounding fire stations are now at the scene.
Horrifying footage shows huge flames coming out of several windows on the floor as thick black smoke rises into the air.

The road below is filled with fire engines which arrived to help put out the blaze.
Station Commander Steve Irvine, who is at the scene, said: ‘A respite centre has been set up locally for those who have been affected by the fire and we are working with local partners.
‘Road closures remain in place in the area and we’d ask that people continue to avoid the area at this time.’
People in the area have been advised to keep windows and doors closed and road closures are in place in the area.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
