THIS family's dream home quickly turned into a house of horrors after the previous owners barricaded themselves in and refused to leave the property.
Tracie and Myles Albert paid a whopping £455,000 for their dream home in California but were gobsmacked when the former owner used a coronavirus loophole to set up camp for more than a year.
In January 2020, the couple closed on their home, but previous owners Sam Boktor and his wife Miriam Khalil refused to leave the gorgeous property.
After COVID-19, eviction proceedings in California came to a standstill, leaving the Alberts without any help in getting the squatters out of their dream home.
After months of frustration and no help from local government, the Alberts hired a locksmith in a desperate attempt to gain access to the home.
And shocking cell phone video taken showed the squatters screaming as they confronted the Alberts – with squatter Boktor holding a tire iron.

At one stage, the couple were shown on TV going up to their front door and knocking, only to have the man inside shouting, "get out of here, f**k you."
“If you were in Arizona, if you were in Nevada, this wouldn't be a problem, you would just go take your house back,” Myles Albert told Fox 11 TV.
“But in California, like our hands are tied, even though we're on your side, there's nothing we can do.”
The terrified couple left, and were forced to wait until months later, the squatting couple packed up their things and finally left the Albert's dream home.

But the ordeal left a sour taste in the Albert's mouth, and they had considered selling their dream home.
In April 2021, the couple were finally able to move into their dream home after more than a year of living through hell.
